Bellingham
History/Introduction
Bellingham is a small and peaceful village nestling between the hills and moors which overlook the North Tyne valley.
The village and its surroundings are steeped in history. Nearby, "Cuddy's Well" is alleged to have been used by St Cuthbert for baptisms, as a result of which its water retains miraculous healing powers. Nearby is Hareshaw Linn, a waterfall hidden in a wooded glen just a short walk from the village centre.
Bellingham is surrounded by the Northumberland National Park, is on the Pennine Way, and is near to Kielder Water, all of which makes it a paradise for walkers, and an ideal touring base.
