Introduction.

“The story of a salmon's life journey is being beautifully depicted through a year-long travelling art show." Green Places News

The Tyne Salmon Trail is a travelling sculpture trail that over the course of 2008 will travel from Kielder Castle in the Northeast of England 75 miles to the mouth of the sea before embarking on its challenging return journey upstream.

The 10 cubes are inspired by the textures, changing colours, and movement of the salmon. They each take on an certain aspect of the salmon in order to exagerrate its beauty and transform into a stunning exhibition. Locations have been carefully selected providing beautiful and dramatic backdrops, drawing attention to some of the most desirable places in the North of England.

These cubes are beautiful pieces of sculpture that use a range of materials reflecting the beauty of the salmon and the surrounding landscape. Carved green oak fins, delicate shimmering discs and carved wooden dowels. Punctured steel, recycled bottles and donated wellington boots.

You can find the whole family of the Tyne Salmon cubes on Newcastle Quayside from the 1st August 2008 for one month.
